NZ’s Foley Give Us Their 5 Aussie Artists That Are Currently Getting Them Hyped
New Zealand duo Foley have recently dropped another new single ‘Tongue’ which is a huge new wave of pop at its finest - it’s also the first release since Foley’s announcement as ambassadors for Spotify’s EQUAL campaign this month. ‘Tongue’ is a taste of what’s to come on August 25th when the duo release their upcoming album ‘CROWD PLEASER’.
We love to see what Australian artists everyone is loving at the moment, so Foley have shared with us 5 Australian artists that are getting them hyped. Check it out below.
San Joseph - I’ve been a huge fan ever since we met at BIGSOUND last year! He’s an incredible songwriter and performer, one of those super special people that’s able to really convey emotion and meaning with his voice. You feel every lyric and melody - helps he’s the kindest soul too. Would recommend “How To Miss You” for an incredible example of his talent!
Vetta Borne - If you want one of Australia's best, funkiest and coolest artists look no further than Vetta Borne. Her second single “R.I.P” was a masterclass in laid-back groove and has the most beautiful melodies! She makes pop music that’s interesting, intricate and delicate - I’ve been hooked ever since first hearing her back in 2019! She’s an incredible producer and bass player too. Huge vibes.
King Stingray - “Milkumana” has to be one of the most epic, powerful & uplifting tracks ever. I’m dying to see it live! It’s as anthemic as Britpop and as funky as French disco but distinctly Australian and every track is really really special. After finding them at SXSW in Austin I dove into their discography and story - which has been really enlightening for me and my small-but-growing knowledge of Aboriginal culture. These guys are super inspiring and a really important listen. Love them!
KYE - The most incredible voice!!! KYE’s a superstar and has this awesome take on modern Pop R&B that I’m obsessed with. Saw her at an art gallery in Sydney and was just blown away by her skill. Her recent track Bossin’ should be at the front of any hype playlist!
Troye Sivan - his classic album “Bloom” was really inspiring to us in the early days of Foley. Fitting stories and emotion into pop lyrics is never easy, but Troye manages it consistently across this record. A must listen if you’re a pop nerd like I am!
