IDLES - 2nd November 2022 - Enmore Theatre Sydney

Packing up the Enmore Theatre on a windy Wednesday night, fans were lined up down the road awaiting for doors to open, excited as anything - after all, they had been waiting a year for this show to finally happen and now they could bask in all the glory of IDLES playing tracks from their most recent album Crawler while also playing through some fan favs from their older releases as the band embark on their AUS/NZ tour.

The venue was semi-full when Alt-punk band Pinch Points took the stage, all wearing matching outfits that displayed their names on the front and their band name on the back which was really fun.
They played through a set that lasted almost an hour and included some really catchy punk tunes that had many jumping around. Taking turns, every member sang/screamed during one or more tracks which was really awesome to hear the contrast between each voice, as the loud instruments shot out of the amps, highlighting the lyrics. Acacia (bass), and Issy (drums) held the rhythm section to a tee, while Adam, and Jordan absolutely killed it on the guitars. It was a fun set, and Pinch Points were the perfect band to open up for IDLES.

I have never heard anything like it when UK punk rockers IDLES walked out onto the stage, the crowd burst out into high pitched screams, all hands up and reaching towards the front - the excitement was beyond what you could have expected, and the band hadn’t even started playing yet!
As it got underway, guitarist Lee Kiernan jumped down, and started to crowd surf while playing, as many a fan followed and started to also crowd surf, bodies came rolling over the top of the barrier as security caught them and took them back to the mosh: by the looks on their faces, they were having a fucking fantastic time. Now this all took place after the first song, so you can only imagine how the night went on. The band had huge energy as they moved, jumped, and throttled around on stage while playing through their hard hitting, punkish, raw attitude tracks that the crowd were feeding off. With every strum of the guitar, and every beat of the drums the crowd moshed harder, and harder - you could feel the barrier closing in on the stage while the energy in the room only grew, the band were feeding off the crowd and vice versa.
It was an incredible show. It's so good to see that people are getting to see their favourite international bands again after so long, and just from looking around it looked like everyone had an amazing time. The band put on one hell of a show, and that energy could not be matched, it was incredible.
