Eat Your Heart Out - 22nd October 2022 - Factory Theatre, Sydney
After almost three years of not touring, Newy pop-punk sweethearts Eat Your Heart Out are back and keen as hell to be playing shows again around the country, this time in celebration of their brand new album “Can’t Stay Forever”. What better way to spend your Saturday night than at the Factory Theatre in Sydney watching these legends play their pop punk bops that are extremely delicious. Joining them for the night, Sydney’s very own Bellwether, and all the way from Melbourne, indie-pop band Damaged Goods Club which completes the lineup and made for a terrific night.
Unfortunaly, due to my camera having a complete meltdown at the start of the night, I was unable to capture Bellwether in all their glory - but I will make it up to them one day. To sum up their set, it was incredible. They peformed such a fun set that had the rampant crowd bouncing up and down to the fast drum beats that were infused with stand out bass humming out of the amp. Everyone at the front of the room screamed the lyrics at the band that became louder and louder - with smiles all around.
Fifteen minutes later, Damaged Goods Club came out onto the stage and from the first note played they had the auidience (including me) hooked - I have definently been sleeping on this band for sure. Their songs were really fucking good and seeing them perform live was an unreal experience. The lead guitaritst played great little riffs and bopped around on stage, while the bassist was focused on playing some hefty bass notes, and as the sweet vocals echoed out to the back of the room, the crowd swayed back and forth and loved every second of it. I became an instant fan after catching their set with some highlight tracks being “Sick Sad Girl”, most recent release “love u 4 eva”, and an absolute fantastic cover of “All The Things She Said” that went hard.
The Factory Floor fully packed out quickly before Eat Your Heart Out came out onto the stage, with many fans absolutely buzzing with excietement as they waited for the set to start. Caitlin Henry (vocalist) yelled out to the Sydney crowd and thanked them for coming to the show as the other members picked up their instruments and got ready to play. Kicking off right away, the crowd started jumping up and down, dancing as the pop punk tunes started flowing out of the speakers and out into the room. Each member of the band macthed each other’s energy as they bounced around on stage, exchanging smiles with each other and the audience while playing through oldies and some some new stuff from the new album, there wasn’t a track that wasn’t loved by these lot of fans. Caitlin does an outstanding job of captivating her crowds with her stage presence and ability to warmly engage with everyone, jumping into the crowd and singing with them was a highlight for many as the room lit up with smiles and screams.
Such a terrific show from start to finish, and one that won’t easily be forgotton.
