Turpentine Babycino Drop Sophomore Single “Calamity”

Hailing from the Newcastle area, indie-punk band Turpentine Babycino took everyone by surprise when they released their debut single “Write A Song Sounds Shit” which quickly gained traction from a wide range of outlets and grabbed the attention of many. Now back with their second single and first release of the year, the band’s new track “Calamity” is a full on punch to the face with it’s powerful guitar strums, profound indie-punk influences and stand out vocals - which is why you don’t wanna miss out on this band!
"Gabe, our drummer, wrote the music for this song and it was my job to create a story with the lyrics and melody. The music was very energetic and kinda agro which spurred a sleeping monster - memories of my days at college university. I was reading a book at the time in which I found the word 'calamity' meaning 'an event causing great and often sudden damage or distress; a disaster'. This is exactly what happened during my time at college after getting mixed up in a passionately toxic relationship. I decided it was my time to finally write about my experience and get the fuck over it through this track. In my mind, I travelled back to those days at uni and felt everything again which was great as I harnessed the emotions and wrote the song in around 30 minutes. As a band, it's one of our absolute favourite Turpentine tracks as it sounds awesome live and it's as real as it gets."- Vocalist Georgie Winchester
With two and a half minutes of great hooks, and a catchy rhythm, “Calamity” serves as a stand out release that will be stuck on repeat while stuck in our heads and has us super excited for future releases from the band.
To celebrate the release of the single, Turpentine Babycino are heading out on a tour, so if you’re around these venues, we recommend you check the band out and show them some love.
