RedHook Drop Fiery New Track “Say”

Sydney’s RedHook are absolutely unstoppable with yet again another fierce release “Say” which follows up from their first track of 2022 “Jabberwocky”. The band's last track saw love and support from many while also being added to rotation on triple j, triple j Unearthed, and Triple M Hard N Heavy. Completely polished with heavy guitar riffs, powerful bass lines, and fiery vocals, “Say” serves as an almighty tune that signifies numerous occasions where vocalist Emmy Mack has experienced sexism as an artist. “When I was first starting out, I was told in no uncertain terms that I had a ‘use-by date’, I was pressured to dumb down my ‘image’ and conform to a more palatable ‘female rock artist’ stereotype; and I was repeatedly made to feel like my opinion didn’t matter when it came to my own music and career. And even though it does feel like things are starting to shift in a more positive direction, with the #metoo movement and now this Raising Their Voices report helping to bring these issues out of the shadows, we clearly still have a long way to go. I hope my little trauma dump on ‘SAY’ helps empower people who’ve copped similar bullshit in any aspect of life. My vision for the song is to be a loud and impetuous ‘fuck you’ to anyone who’s ever tried to make anyone else in this world feel voiceless or small.” - Emmy Mack explains.

Blasting through the intro with a gut-wrenching guitar riff before deep vocals come in for the verse - shivers drift up your spine as you hear the instruments slowly creep together and unleash a fiery chorus as Emmy Mack shouts “Say what you wanna say, as long as you agree with me”. Every RedHook release is uniquely individual but all share that addictive nu metal sound that many know, love, and appreciate as the band create catchy tracks with deep meanings that really help empower people and shine light on shitty situations. It’s without a doubt that “Say” is another one of those releases that they can add to their ever growing list of quality tunes.
RedHook will be the main support for In Hearts Wake on their Green Is The New Black tour kicking off next week, so make sure to snatch up a ticket and see the band perform a fun, energetic set.
