PRESS CLUB DROP FANTASTIC NEW SINGLE ‘WASTED DAYS’

With only a couple of shows remaining from what has been an epic 44 date national trek around Australia supporting Grinspoon, independent Melbourne four piece, Press Club today release new single, ‘Wasted Days’.

Crafted earlier this year, the track began when the band’s drummer, Frank Lees, recorded uninhibited drum takes, forming the song's energetic foundation. Lyrically, vocalist Natalie Foster matched the intensity: exploring themes of rebirth and liberation, exploring past discomforts and celebrating new experiences.

With a slight stylistic shift, ‘Wasted Days’ showcases the band’s signature sound, blending hard-hitting guitar melodies, vocal finesse, and the rhythmic brilliance of bassist Iain MacRae.

MacRae reflects on writing and recording ‘Wasted Days’. “Maybe it's a little more simplistic than other Press Club songs, but it just had this really liberating energy from the very start. We didn't want to short change the song's positivity when we were coming up with a concept for the music video. We really wanted to keep that essence of positivity alive. We decided to team up with our longtime mate and collaborator, Nick Manuell to capture us wasting days together. We went out and did daft things. We spent a day in a 1966 Mustang convertible, hired a boat, just genuinely had a laugh. I think myself and the band particularly appreciated these leisure days, because we're in the middle of a 44 date, 11 week tour. So blowing off some steam and not taking life too seriously was beaut!”

Lead singer Natalie Foster speaks to the filming of the clip, “this is by far the funnest clip we've ever made. From shooting in the grandstands of rodeos and soccer fields mid tour to driving a mustang and renting a boat in our home city, this clip was nothing but good vibes to shoot".

Having spent the last few months visiting most of Australia’s capital cities as well as towns usually well off the tour map Press Club still have a few shows left to round out 2024. A weekend in Tasmania, an all ages show in Hoppers Crossing and joining The Smith Street Band for a Christmas party at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel.
