Perth’s Shangrila Drop New Single ‘Afterlife’
Perth Alt-Rock band Shangrila have just released their new single ‘Afterlife’ ahead of their national tour with Young Lions. Produced by Matthew Templeman (Voyager, Make Them Suffer) and mastered by SimonStruthers (Sly Withers, Karnivool, Something For Kate), Afterlife joins the band's collection of expertly crafted alt rock as they close in on 3 million overall Spotify streams and counting.
"Afterlife is a track about struggling with your direction in life, feeling as though you are existing but not truly living," says Jupp. "The song explores apprehension towards change, and the ultimate realization that often we are standing the way of our own growth, and need to go through uncomfortable moments and hard work to realise the best version of ourselves and enjoy the rewards that life has to offer." - Vocalist Devyn Jupp.
Kicked off by a thumping drum beat and the tremendous melodies, ‘Afterlife’ already proves to be a favourite from the very intro. Clean vocals dive against the soundscape and become intertwined to create a pure emotive feel that cascades throughout the verses and especially in the chorus when the vocals really start to soar as lyrics ‘I cover up my eyes just to see the afterlife’ ring out into the ears of listeners.
Shangrila are set to tour their new tune across the nation as the place second on the bill after The Beautiful Monument at Adelaide's Winter DRPØUT Festival in late August before play a couple of shows with post-hardcore monsters Thrice (US) on The Artist In The Ambulance 20 Year Tour ahead of their national tour supporting Young Lions across Australia on the Burn 10 Year Anniversary Tour at the end of September.
