THE WORLD IS A VAMPIRE FEST - SMASHING PUMPKINS, JANES ADDICTION & MORE - 19TH APRIL 2023 - HORDERN PAVILION, SYDNEY

It sure does feel like 1990 again, as The Smashing Pumpkins are back and in Australia for the first time since playing Soundwave in 2015, bringing The World Is A Vampire Festival to all fans down under across ten cities.

Coming along for the ride are none other than alt-rock God’s Jane’s Addiction, brute force punks Amyl & The Sniffers, and Battlesnake. On top of this plethora of 90’s alt goodness, the festival also includes professional wrestling matches in between sets featuring the wrestling agency (NWA) that Billy Corgan owns, who will go head to head against the WAOA for a full blown night of great entertainment, and excitement.

Hitting the Hordern Pavillion in Sydney for the second night in a row, we got to witness this spectacular event which will definitely be a core memory - you can check out the gallery below!

There was nothing more entertaining than watching live wrestling in between sets - the atmosphere, the passion, and the excitement that was there was absolutely astonishing. Between Billy Corgan’s National Wrestling Alliance and the Wrestling Alliance of Australia, there was only room for pure talent during these short matches. Flying over the ropes, body slamming, illegal hair pulling, kicks to the face - you name it, it happened.
The time really did fly by when all eyes were glued to the great entertainment that both wrestling organisations had to offer.

Amyl & The Sniffers were quick to take the stage, with vocalist Amy Taylor walking out with two drinks in hand, giving the crowd a cheeky grin before the band got right into business. The four-piece are magical and chaotic rolled into one, and it’s what makes them so great.
Hard strums of the guitar, full bass lines, punchy drums, and the vocals from Amy made for one hell of a high-energetic set. Playing through some great tracks from older albums as well as fucking bomb ones from their newest album Comfort To Me. Amyl & The Sniffers put on a fantastic set, and are definitely a band you need to see live.

Jane's Addiction had the crowd mesmerised from the word go. As they stepped out onto the dark stage, the audience erupted into loud screams while each member took their place and got ready to play an hour of their beloved tunes. Lead vocalist Perry Farrell moved around and engaged with the crowd while the other members were no strangers to the art of stage presence, getting into the more fast paced tracks.

The Smashing Pumpkins were better than ever - taking full control over the stage and audience as Billy Corgan wore his classic dark face paint, and flowing black robes. They played through some of their well known loved classic hits like “Bullet With Butterfly Wings”, “Today”, and “Ava Adore” while also playing some newer music that was very well received, while throwing in some covers into the mix to make it all the more perfect. The atmosphere was high with nostalgia for many, but soaring with great vibes for all. With a huge mix of older, and younger fans, everyone looked like they were having the time of their lives - it was very much the place to be on a Wednesday night.
