Short Stack - 15th July 2022 - Metro Theatre, Sydney
After an unprecedented amount of rescheduled dates and push backs, every fangirls favourite pop punk band from around 2008 is finally bringing their tour to the Metro Theatre in Sydney. Playing three nights in a row over the weekend of 15th July - 17th July, the band were ready and excited to see a large number of their fans old and new have a spectacular night of screaming and dancing to some throwback tunes and some newer stuff as well. Bringing along to join the fun is lovable duo Those Who Dream and the pop punk legends in Between You & Me.
Those Who Dream rocked the stage first with their extremely catchy tunes that echoed out throughout the room and had even the people up the back dancing. The duo consist of brothers Cooper and Josh Meyer and even though there are just two of them, that doesn’t stop them from working off each other's energy and putting on a terrific performance. They both brought a lot of good vibes to the stage and it was great to see them start the night off right.
The crowd only grew from there as they eagerly awaited Melbourne pop punk favourites Between You & Me who live up to the name of pop punk - when you picture pop punk in your mind, they should honestly come straight to your mind as they embody the genre in every way. The tracks that were played one after another just kept getting better as the fans sang along to the words back to the band. Vocalist Jake Wilson and bassist James Karagiozis both have great energy and feed off each other while also getting the crowd involved and interacting with them. The energy was also incredibly high and there were more jumps happening on that stage than I’ve ever seen anywhere in my life. It would have to be one of the funnest, entertaining sets I've seen by far.
The venue erupted in the loudest screams as Short Stack walked out onto the stage and rocked hard from the first song to the last. The atmosphere was unbeatable as the band shared smiles with the crowd and moved around on stage while playing through their set. Some of their more popular tracks saw the audience screaming out the lyrics with the band as the venue was packed with excited people that all looked like they were having a great time. The band gave their all to their performance and the crowd loved it. It was awesome to see these guys able to play in Sydney as it has been a long time coming. They still have two more shows in Sydney over the next two nights to do it all again for a new set of fans, so if you have tickets to those shows, you’re bound to have a blast.
