Blank Generation - June 4th 2022 - Metro Theatre, Sydney

Blank Generation is becoming a monthly event which goes from 8pm to 3am and sees a collection of some of the most hottest, grittiest bands that Australia has to offer followed by DJ’s for the rest of the night. The alt/New Wave event takes place at none other than The Metro Theatre, the perfect venue to hold such an occasion.

A cold Saturday night on the 4th of June as The Lair side of the venue slowly started to fill when doors opened at 8 and punters got ready for a long and great night packed full of live music and DJ’s. The drinks started heavily flowing and smiles were shared between friends and between strangers as everyone started to get pumped for the music to start. As low lights and smoke filled up the room, the first band got up on stage and in 3, 2, 1.. here we go.

The Blamers are simply punk - their attitude, their sound, it’s something you don’t want to miss. As they each forcefully moved around the stage playing their songs, it was very entertaining to watch and then see many punters with drinks in hand, moving their heads around to the hard drum beat and guitar riffs. The sound of feedback filled the room as the guitarist pushed his instrument up to the amp before ripping into one hell of a solo that got everyone hyped.

With their punk vibes and great tunes, Tee Vee Repairman had the crowd absolutely buzzing. The lyrics started to be shouted out by the band as they played through their set energetically, while everyone moshed, jumped and head banged around, loving every second of the 30 minute set. The guitar solos were great, the energy was pumping, and the band had backing vocals that added a perfect layer to the performance.

R.M.F.C blew my mind - the five piece play some fucking catchy tracks with fast drums that had punters go hard in the mosh which 100% warmed everyone up on the cold night. Fast paced punk tracks and great energy saw the rowdiest crowd of the night who jumped around, pushed each other, crowd surfed, and had a hell of a time.

The Pinheads hit the stage and started to play as the vocalist came out with full force, totally engaging with the crowd as he got up close, yelling lyrics, jumping, and having great stage presence. Their tracks were loud and erupted out hard through the speakers and created a great atmosphere.
