CHAT WITH SYDNEY’S MAC THE KNIFE

Mac The Knife are a post-punk band, hailing from Sydney who have been the talk of the town around the local music scene with their energetic performances, and consistently strong releases it’s easy to see just why they are easily becoming so popular.
Recently releasing their brand new single “Blood Of My Blood” which has received love from many and gained a solid line of streams, Mac The Knife sat down and had a little chat with us about the track and what’s next from them - view it below.

Tell us a little about yourself and describe each member in three words.
We’re Mac the Knife, and we’re a five piece Post-Punk band from the inner west of Sydney, who love to love.

Bryn - Baguette, drama queen, scooter king

Anthony - brat, rollerblader, science nerd

Curtis - tall, long, high

Jonny- Loves, to, boomboom

Can you give us either a funny or interesting fact about the band.
We weirdly only have one band member who has a forklift license.

Your new track Blood Of My Blood came out this week, which by the way is amazing! Where did the inspiration for the sound come from?
Thankyouuuuu! The sound for Blood was heavily inspired by an Irish Post-punk band called The Murder Capital. The production on their tracks is just so full and layered, we love them.

The track is the second off your forthcoming EP In The Shadow Of It All, have you been liking everyone’s reaction to the new track so far?
It’s been so lovely! It’s crazy to write such a personal song but to hear how it resonates with so many people. It’s been super affirming. Thank you so much to everyone who’s given it a listen so far!

What was your favourite track to write on the upcoming EP and why?
I think probably Curb My Bite, which is the next single we’ll be releasing. It’ just super chargey and fun to play, can’t get much better than that.

Which bands in the scene at the moment are you currently listening to?
Been really loving  A.Swayze and the Ghost and Bad Dreems at the moment, both huge inspirations for us.

What else can everyone except to see from Mac The Knife this year?
Curb My Bite will be dropping in August, followed by a tour in September. Then In the Shadow of it all will be hitting your ears at the end of the year!
