Honey Nothings Unveil First Track Of The Year “Talk To Me”

Sydney Indie-pop locals Honey Nothings have unveiled their first track of the year “Talk To Me”, with what feels like a lifetime of waiting since their last release in 2021. Delivered as a brilliant soundscape, the track will have you drenched in an oozing wave of synths, pristine vocal melodies, and a whole lot of reverb. To celebrate the release of this 80’s infused bop, the band will be playing a single launch show at Gallery Bar, Oxford Art Factory on September 2nd, so if you're looking for a gig to attend, definitely check that out and show some love to the band on their impressive release and with having shared the stage with bands like Lime Cordiale, and Ocean Alley, Honey Nothings are no strangers when it comes to putting on an entertaining show for a lot of people.

James Fuller talks about the track -“‘Talk To Me’ is a song inspired by communication breakdowns; how assumptions and things left unsaid can lead to massive arguments and conflict. I wrote the lyrics just after Christmas in 2020, during a particularly hard-hitting lockdown after some typical family tension. Pete and I did the first session at his parents’ place, springboarding off an 80s kind of synth hook he'd come up with. The track came together quickly thereafter, with ideas coming thick and fast. I found that the lyrics were starting to move further away from the original theme and towards a more romantic feeling, possibly inspired by the bitter sweetness of the harmony and overall vibe of the track. After yet another lockdown was introduced in NSW, we finished off the track remotely via zoom. The icing on the 80s cake was a sax solo from Zac Olsen, which filled a massive gap we'd had since the beginning.”

The whole track pulses with 80’s vibes, enriched with soaring melodies and underlined with a groovy rhythm that grabs onto you and has you totally vibing hard. To top it off, the sax solo towards the end really helps fulfill that 80’s sound and adds that perfect element to complete the song and make it that much more great. For fans of bands like The 1975, and The Midnight - you’ll definitely love this one!
