HALESTORM // LIBERTY HALL SYDNEY // 20TH MARCH 2024
When you think of Liberty Hall in Sydney, techno, disco and DJ’s spring to mind but not on Wednesday the 20th of March when US band Halestorm took to the halls and had the walls absolutely shaking with the fucking sweet sounds of rock and roll coming in full force through the eruption of their fiery, fierce music. The band's first sideshow, a warm up if you will before they get ready to play KnotFest around Australia and they didn’t disappoint one bit.
Bringing with them local melodic-metal legends Reliqa, and Welsh badasses Skindred to kick the night off right.
Reliqa are one of those bands that when you see them live, you instantly become a fan. With their childish charm, killer stage presence, striking sounds, and dynamic talents, they had the headbanging along to the melodic guitar notes and dense drums. The band gave their all during their 30 minute set playing some of their most loved songs as well as giving Sydney the first taste of new single ‘Terminal’ and some sweet unreleased tracks that have us literally howling with anticipation..
Kill The Power! Skindred had the crowd screaming out with their strong, wicked performance as they engaged heavily with the audience throughout their 45 minutes of playing. Headbanging and horns up from everyone in the room as the band’s metal infused reggae sounds bounced off the walls and filled the room with a heavy groove while vocalist Benji Webbe preached about the importance of unity, and positivity while screaming to fuck off any negativity. It was a chaotic set in the best way possible.
From the moment Halestorm set upon the stage, the whole venue exploded into excited screams as the band kicked off with the loveable banger ‘I Miss The Misery”. Frontwoman Lzzy Hale is truly a force to be reckoned with - her powerhouse vocals, guitar skills, and her love for the fans really makes her one of the most inspirational musicians in modern day rock.
Drummer Arejay Hale made playing the drums look easy with his incredible skills, simply captivating everyone who watched especially with his stick tricks and hefty drum solos. Joe and Josh exchanged smiles with people in the front row as they both threw out guitar picks every chance they could get while shredding up their instruments.
The four-piece played through some of their most beloved tracks both old and newer for over an hour, adding guitar solos and instruments at every turn that really made the band's talent shine. Watching Halestorm live really is an unbelievable experience that you never sleep on - this band has talent and we absolutely love to witness it every time they head down under.
Don’t miss out as they play Knotfest this weekend!
