Tell us about your music background, and what inspired you to start a band.
We have all been involved in the music scene since we were teenagers, playing in different bands and musical endeavors. It took a long time to find other people who were committed to doing it full time and had the same creative interests but finally that is what we have here. I (Gemma) was personally inspired by many bands in the Warped Tour scene that I kept up with as a teenager.

What is something you are most proud of and feel that you’ve accomplished as a band?
This whole release is what we are most proud of so far! Each one of us have put our entire heart and souls into every aspect from the recording process to the music video and I hope that comes across.

Talk us through the creative process when it came to your new track “My Name”.
It started out with the main guitar hook, Sam came up with that and then as a band we created the song around it. The lyrics came about as I (Gemma) was single at the time and starting to date around, and I found myself frustrated with how often I was being perceived as a “fragile” person, so that’s what came out.

How did you come up with the idea/concept for the music video?

The first thing we knew is that we wanted to reference the chase scenes from the Scooby Doo cartoons. We started working with Matt Bird and with him we created this story of Gemma falling asleep watching a horror movie only to end up in a dream where the rest of the band members were monsters.

Who are some local bands that you’re really digging at the moment?
There are so many great ones out there at the moment! Nth Rd, Excuse For An Exit and Everlyne are the first ones that come to mind.

Tell us something that you’re most excited about in 2023?

We’re excited to release more music, we have a few more under our belt ready to go, so keep an eye and ear out. Hopefully we’ll be playing bigger and better gigs too.

Where do you hope This Space Is Ours to be in 5 years time?

In 5 years time we hope to be touring consistently and perhaps have scored some slots at some big festivals, fingers crossed!
